---Second Blog Entry--- Day 6 of New Orleans---

Yesterday morning (3.28.08) I visited a cemetery. Yesterday afternoon the whole group went on a picnic for lunch. It was fun. Jess and I dressed up in matching outfits and we looked great! Yesterday night, Jodie and I went out for a nice little haunted tour with our new friend Angel. Angel is about 40 years old and has fangs. She says they are real. She also has a mustache and a very raspy voice. I have never heard so much nutty bullshit come out of one person and most of the time we couldn't even understand her. It was quite a hoot. In spite of our crazy tour guide, it was a fun time. We visited the Lalaurie House and the house of a Voodoo lady that is 80 years old. Fun Fun Fun.

Anyway.....

Today we--
went on a gater hunt
watched people plant trees
took pictures of a nontraditional art gallery
ate chinese
got rained on
talked to a man who was devastated by Katrina
watched Jess get yelled at, then cry
had a minivan war (but only Rich participated)
Bonded with the photo essay class in our tightly packed minivan

It was a good day.

I don't want to go home yet.

The Color of Voodoo...

--- First Blog Entry--- Day 3 of New Orleans---

Last night Caitlin, Jodie, and I went on a 'OH SO EXCITING' HAUNTED history tour at 8pm... well that was pretty much like a Social Studies class in 6th grade. Don't get me wrong, it was very informative and interesting, but I thought we were going to have time to take pictures... that didn't happen at all. Since we didn't shoot last night, Jodie and I decided to go back to those spots this afternoon, but, they are boring locations in the sun.

So... my topic for this photo essay has changed. It is too annoying to try to creep out photographs that have no creep whatsoever. I have decided to concentrate on the color of Voodoo. I don't have any knowledge when it comes to the actual religion of Voodoo so that also adds to why I changed my mind.

Getting that out of the way... Jodie and I had a pretty eventful day. We hit up 2 different Voodoo shops (Rev. Zombies Voodoo and Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo) and a Voodoo Museum (I can't remember what the formal name was) and we both got, in my opinion, great photographs. I finally feel good about my essay!

whoohoo... success
